1st Day Of Practice

So I went to hit balls today at Glenwoodie with the new clubs. Was only gonna take 3 irons and 3 woods but decided to take the whole bag. It was chilly! Again, nobody on the range until later when 3 guys came, with one of them wearing shorts! Brrr! I bought a small bucket, started with the 5-iron, then went to the 8 then the 5wood, 3wood and driver, then hit 2 balls with the 3iron. Not too bad for the first time. Hit a number of balls left, which may have been from my left hamstrings being tight, which is a previous problem Ive had since January. I didnt stretch beforehand, so a couple shots I couldnt keep a firm left side. Also had to hit off mats instead of grass, so was a little hesitant to get under the balls. The rubber tees were a little high for the fairway woods as well. Almost every shot was left or straight, but I get an incomplete for this one. Just gettin my feet wet with the clubs. Probably go again next weekend.

Warm & Windy

Thought about going to the driving range today as temps were in the 60's, but went past Coyote Run and only 2 or 3 cars in whole parking lot. Range was empty. Weather was too iffy with clouds and wind and drizzle. Wont be long now, as spring is only 10 days away. Still looking for a 4-Wood. Can use old one if need be, but I will get one. Golf Galaxy didnt have "pure" 4-woods, only 4+ hybrids. Watched 1st womens golf event of season - they're using carts! because the course is too long. Hmmm. 6900 yards. You'd think they've had all off season to rest. Hopefully next entry will describe hitting balls.

TV Golf

Watched a little of the 3rd round of the Ford golf tourney today. Tiger is leading by 2 over Rich Beem. Phil Mickelson is 4 back after going in the water on the last hole from a lie between 2 cart paths. If he was righthanded he could have dropped away as his feet would have been on the path. I think this is the tourney that he had the contest "Phils on the Phone" to win a round of golf with him, Brett Favre, and Toby Keith. I entered, but alas, Phil never called. I'd get a kick out of playing with them, but realistically would have been knocked out in the qualifying.

1st Post

This is my first posting on this blog. The main reason I decided to start a blog is because I recently bought new golf clubs and want to track my progress with them. This way I can record my observations and have something to help me remember how I did. This blog will evolve as I get used to things, and my postings will mainly be after rounds or practice. Since I don't play (or practice) in winter, the time between now and Opening Day (1st round of golf) will be used to tell about how I got to this point in my golf career, and some stories and anecdotes as they come to mind. Since this is a golf blog, if you arent a golfer you may be a little bored, but thats what you're getting.
